    South Africa pulled out all the stops for the 2010 World Cup -Including the fastest time which the stadiums were built.

    Some of the tournament's big numbers include:

  • 3 058 112 match tickets were available;
  • On average 49 324 people attended every match ;
  • 97% of the available tickets were sold, 2.2 million of them at South African ticket centers
  • 32 teams participated in the event with a total of 736 players
  • 18 000 volunteers came forward
  • The department of transport used 780 buses for the event ;
  • The Treasury has estimated that the Cup will contribute 0.4% to the country's GDP this year , Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan put the amount at R38-      billion;
  • The Department of Justice spent R45-million on World Cup courts , using 327 orderlies, 66 clerks, 201 foreign and local language interpreters, 260       prosecutors, 110 magistrates and 110 Legal Aid Layers;
  • 40 000 police officers were deployed;
  • Flights into Johannesburg's OR Tambo International Airport doubled to 800 a day;
  • The equivalent of about 30million, 340ml bottles of beer were sold during the tournament.
